Hearst Technology executives in the Sandbox, workplace, strategy, participatory design

Hearst Corporation, Hearst Technology Workplace

Pilot Projects was hired by Hearst Technology to help solve a complex challenge. Our goal was to help leadership reorganize their diverse multi-team technology workforce on a new floor of the Hearst Tower, while improving workflow and collaboration, and maintaining a sense of autonomy for teams and individuals. To acheive this we used our signature Sandbox toolkit and involved representatives from every team simultaneously in the design process. By involving all teams at the same time we were able to help them surface synergies, conflicts and trade-offs, and allow them to work through these with each other in real time.

Full participation by team leaders allowed for real time decision-making, leading to a consensus solution and saving weeks of planning time.

Concept floor plan co-created by diverse team leadership balanced their specific space needs and adjacencies within very tight building constraints.
